When GEO and BOREA move forward together: collaboration in action at Morneau
At Groupe Morneau, collaboration is more than just a stated value. It’s something that comes to life in the field every day, in the way teams work together to better serve our clients.
Since last fall, the BOREA and GEO teams have been sharing the same space at the Bolton terminal. This proximity quickly sparked a simple idea: take advantage of working under one roof to better coordinate certain operations.
At first glance, the two divisions operate in very different realities. But by combining their strengths, the teams quickly realized there was a real opportunity to improve overall network efficiency.
“Why not combine our efforts to avoid empty miles and improve efficiency?”
— Derek Doucette, Terminal Manager
Together with Les Milewski, Operations Supervisor, this idea quickly turned into a concrete practice. Every day, GEO and BOREA dispatchers take a few minutes to review the day’s operations and identify opportunities for collaboration.
In some cases, GEO handles pickups while BOREA manages deliveries. In other situations, teams simply adjust routes to optimize movements. It’s a simple yet effective approach that allows resources to be used more intelligently.
For Les Milewski, the key to this success is communication above all.
“We communicate constantly, every day. It allows us to spot gaps in our schedules and share information to plan more effectively together.”
This way of working doesn’t rely on complex systems. Instead, it’s built on fundamentals: listening, mutual respect, and a willingness to support each other whenever the opportunity arises.
The results are already visible. Since implementing this collaboration, empty miles have decreased, operations have become smoother, and teams are saving time.
Beyond operational efficiency, it’s also strengthening team spirit.
At Morneau, field-driven initiatives are encouraged, and ideas are welcomed with openness. As Les points out:
“We come from companies that were very traditional. Morneau is a breath of fresh air. Ideas are welcomed, and everyone can contribute to improving how we work.”
What this means for our clients
This collaboration between GEO and BOREA helps optimize routes and use resources more efficiently. The result: a more effective network, better-coordinated operations, and an even more reliable service for our clients.
When teams work together, service quality naturally improves.
What this means for our teams
At Morneau, the best ideas often come from the field. Teams are encouraged to propose solutions, collaborate, and continuously improve the way things are done.
This initiative is a great example: two teams, two different realities, but one shared goal — delivering outstanding service.
As Derek summarizes:
“When we work together, we must deliver outstanding service. That responsibility is shared by all of us.”
This culture of collaboration and accountability is what drives Morneau forward every day.
Together, we go further.
